Laboratory Fume hood is an important part of laboratory. What is the function of Fume hood?

The Fume hood is an important device in the laboratory, which is mainly used to discharge various indoor exhaust gases. The Fume hood is a kind of common laboratory equipment used in the laboratory, which needs to discharge harmful gases and clean pollutants during the experiment.

Main function of Fume hood: the more important function of Fume hood is exhaust function. In the chemical laboratory, various harmful gases, odors, moisture, flammable, explosive and Corrosive substance will be produced during the experimental operation. In order to protect the user's safety and prevent the pollutants in the experiment from spreading to the laboratory, Fume hood should be used near the pollution source. The number of Fume hood used in the past was very small, and they were only used in experiments with particularly harmful and dangerous gases and generating a lot of heat. The Fume hood is only responsible for the auxiliary functions of the test bench.

What is the role of laboratory Fume hood?

The larger purpose of using Fume hood is to discharge the harmful gas generated in the experiment and protect the health of the experimental personnel, that is, to have a high degree of safety and superior operability, which requires the Fume hood to have the following functions:

(1) Release function: there should be a mechanism to absorb the harmful gas generated inside the Fume hood through the way of gas outside the cabinet, so that it can be diluted and discharged outside.

(2) Backflow prevention function: it shall have the function that the airflow generated by the Whole-house fan in the Fume hood will not reverse harmful gas from the Fume hood into the room. In order to ensure the realization of this function, it is better to connect the Fume hood fan in a single pipe instead of a single pipe connection, which is limited to parallel connection in the same room on the same floor. Ventilation fans should be installed at the end of the duct (or at the top of the floor) as much as possible.

(3) Isolation function: In front of the Fume hood, there should be a non sliding glass window to separate the inside and outside of the Fume hood.

(4) Supplementary function: when discharging harmful gases, there should be a channel or an alternative device to inhale air from outside the Fume hood.

(5) Wind speed control function: in order to prevent harmful gases from escaping from the Fume hood, a certain suction speed is required.

(6) Heat resistance and acid and alkali corrosion resistance: some Fume hood are equipped with electric furnaces, and some experiments produce a large amount of toxic and harmful gases such as acid and alkali, with strong corrosivity. The Fume hood table top, lining plate, side plate and the selected water nozzle and air nozzle shall have anti-corrosion function.
